Is It Teething? Here’s How to Tell (and What to Do!)

If you’re a parent of a baby or toddler, you’ve probably been there - wondering if those cranky days, red cheeks, or sleepless nights mean one thing: teething.

It’s a big milestone, but it can also be a bit tricky to spot, especially if this is your first little one. So, how do you know if your baby is teething? And what can you do to help them through it?

Signs Your Baby Might Be Teething

Every baby is different, but there are some classic signs that often point to teething:
Increased dribbling - Your little one might be a dribble machine as their gums start to feel itchy and swollen.

Chewing and biting - They might be chomping on anything they can get their hands on, from teething toys to fingers,  trying to relieve that gum pressure.

Irritability or fussiness - Teething can be really uncomfortable, so irritability is a common symptom.

Trouble sleeping - Those sore gums can keep your baby awake more than usual.

Swollen or tender gums - You might notice redness or swelling where teeth are about to come through.

Refusing food or breastfeeding - Sore gums can make sucking or chewing uncomfortable.

A slight rise in temperature - But watch out, a high fever isn’t a typical sign of teething and may be a sign of something else.

If you notice several of these signs, there’s a good chance teething is underway.

What You Can Do to Help

Teething can be tough, but luckily, there are plenty of ways to soothe your baby’s gums and keep their mouth clean and healthy.

1. Try Baby Gum Wipes: Before teeth appear, it’s important to keep your baby’s gums clean. Our brush-baby baby gum wipes are perfect for this! They’re soft, gentle, and specially designed to cleanse delicate gums and tongues. Each baby gum wipe is individually wrapped, making it super easy to use at home or on the go. Plus, they contain Xylitol, a natural ingredient that helps reduce harmful bacteria and keeps that fresh feeling - great for preventing “dummy breath” and morning breath.

2. Use Teething Toys: Teething toys provide something safe for your baby to chew on, easing discomfort by massaging sore gums. Our range includes fun and soothing options designed to help little ones during this stage.

3. Maintain Good Oral Hygiene
Even before teeth come in, cleaning your baby’s mouth regularly helps build healthy habits. Once teeth start appearing, switch to a gentle kids toothbrush to clean those new pearly whites. Our kids electric toothbrushes are specially designed to make brushing easier and more enjoyable for toddlers and young kids.

4. Use Kids Toothpaste
When your little one has their first tooth, it’s time to introduce kids toothpaste that’s made just for them. Our Children’s AppleMint Toothpaste is mild and safe - no harsh chemicals, just gentle protection and a fresh taste kids love.
