Anodontia is a rare genetic condition where all teeth are missing. It falls under a broader category of conditions known as tooth agenesis, which includes hypodontia (missing one to six teeth) and oligodontia (missing more than six teeth). Anodontia can affect either the primary (baby) teeth or the permanent (adult) teeth, though it is extremely uncommon.
Signs include:
- Missing teeth in areas where they should naturally be developing.
- Delays far beyond the average timeframe for primary tooth eruption, which usually starts around six to ten months of age.
